Congrats!!!!

A quick congratulations to my sis, Amanda and Walker on their engagement tonight!! What a typical Monday night. I guess this means a double wedding for the Mills girls???

Doors and More

On Saturday, Mama, Amanda, and I made a trip to Sasser to visit my aunt at her antique store Alice and Jay's. I could have taken the whole store and put it in the trunk the of car if money and Alice would have allowed me to. Alice had this wonderful little table that kept calling my name. This perfect round table has the perfect place to call home in my soon to be kitchen. All thanks to my amazing aunt and wonderful mama. (Thankfully, Alice is allowing the little table stay at the shop for a little while longer since I have no where to store it for now.)

The men on the table will not be going with me to the new house. Now, I am thinking that I should bring them to the new house. They would be great for keeping an eye on Kami and Bauer!

Also, I have not yet posted any pictures of our exterior doors. The doors have been up for a month, I just have not posted any pictures of them yet.

Up and Running Again!

I took a brief vacation from the blogging world, but now I am back to update everyone on the house!

A lot has been done since last post!

During Christmas break, Nick built the back deck

The back deck. Railing and a roof will be added on soon.

We also got in our fireplace! Yes, a real wood burning fireplace! This is one thing in the house that I had to have. A log home without a fireplace isn't really a log home is it? Also, since I grew up with a real fireplace, I wouldn't have it any other way.

The area around the fireplace will be boxed up and covered in stack rock. Also, I will be inheriting the mantel that is currently hanging above Mama and Daddy's fireplace. The mantel was found many years ago in the old tobacco barns at Meme and Grandaddy's farm and I love it!

As soon as Nick and Mr. Chuck got the fireplace installed they started a fire (the first of many)

The master bathtub and extra bathroom bath/shower have also arrived. You may be thinking that we are no were near ready to install a bathtub yet. The tub cannot fit through the door openings, so it has to go though the wall!
My 6ftx4ft tub with jets!
I blame me having to have this tub on my mom. She taught me that soaking in hot bubble bath is a must for a princess

The tub/shower for the 2nd bathroom.

We love to find the best deals and hunt on Craigslist to see what we can find. We were hunting for a spiral staircase. I really wanted a black staircase with wooden stairs. We searched the internet and found many places who has what we wanted, but we still had to check Craigslist just in case. And sure enough, we found a staircase for a bargain! But with every bargain, they need a little TLC to make them perfect.

The metal for the staircase was originally white, but thankfully we know a real good painter that was able to fix that real quick. The stairs and handrail is beautiful oak wood, and with a little cleaning up, they will look good as new!

A view looking down.

The railing painted black with no stairs

Don't get dizzy!

As I said before, we love bargains! This was the best of the best bargain... FREE. Actually, while still living in Columbus at my apartment we went to take the trash to the dumpster and found this fire pit sitting beside the dump. Two of the side screens were missing, but still a FREE fire pit! So Nick loaded it up and now it has a new home.  Once it was home, Heath, Nick's brother brought two old screens from a old fire pit he had to the shop, and guess what... they fit perfect! I guess we could be called dumpster divers!
