Welcome Back to Creekside Landing

Hello all! It has been a while since I have updated this blog and many many things have changed. Since the last post of course we finished the house! Wohoooo! However, I don't think we will ever be completely finished. We always have some type of project in the works. My new found love is Pinterest which means Nick's To-Do list is never complete.

This is a picture of our house along with the sod we put down last summer
We built a patio along with a fire pit in the back yard. This table is a Pinterest find made out of two pallets. Its super easy to build and very durable for the outside weather!

Headboard for Guest Bedroom
This headboard was a very fun and simple project. However, the stain process was an adventure. Between tea, white paint, vinegar, steel wool, and a little bit of actually stain the color came out perfect!

(This isn't a really good picture)

We finished the basement. Used Tin for the ceiling and made a light out of a wagon wheel. Of course we had to figure out a way to rust new metal. FYI acid and hydrogen peroxide will do the trick. (wear gloves!!)

I found the old barn door sliding door on Pinterest and had to have one! I am one lucky girl to have suck an awesome husband who loves projects as much as me!

I loved the idea of painting our bricked stamped concrete basement walls to look like actually bricks but could not find a way to do it other than painting each individual brick. Which would take forever! After a few hours of researching, I finally found a blog that explained how it could be done. Thankfully, I know a Wonderful painter (my father in law) who was up for the challenge one Saturday evening.

The test trail in the storage room. Notice the grey on the right side is what it looked like before

It was so amazing how much the pop of color changed the entire look of the basement.

This is a before and after shot of the basement.

We absolutely love our basement. The next project will be a Bar. Any ideas??

In between the chaos of all of our house projects, a new addition was added to the family. Our amazing nephew Rowan Walker Searcy was born on December 28, 2012.

Logs, Insulation, and Sheetrock

So much has been happening at the house lately. I really need to take lessons from my mom of how to update the blog more often :)

Logs were delivered all the way from Michigan on Feb 7th. The delivery guy got to town early and had to spend the night at Days Inn and arrived at our house the next day bright and early. Nick and I were so excited that the logs had arrived, we just had to go take a look at Days Inn at 11 pm just to see the truck with OUR logs!

Once the logs came, I had to go to the paint store and pick on the stain color that I wanted. If any one knows me, I am not the best with decision making so this was not too easy. But only after 1 try, I had the color I wanted!

Some of the trim stained.

The process of putting logs up has begun! (The big bundles hiding the view of the house are more logs)

Time for a longer ladder!

Almost there! Thank goodness for the bucket lift!

The very last peice..for the first side of the house

One side down, 3 to go!!

On Friday, while Nick and I were staining logs. The AAA insulation came to spray our insulation. The guys had to dress up in alien suits and started spraying. It was pretty amazing how quickly it was done. By the end of the day, our house looked like marshmellows exploded everywhere! We used the foam insulation. After they were all finished, there was a lot of extra foam left over. I wished I would have saved it to make me a new pillow or shoe inserts because the foam is so squishy and soft!

Only after about 10 minutes one side of the house is insulated!

Today, the sheetrockers delievered sheetrock. This truck was stopped on the side of the road while the other truck was in the driveway unloading. I had to stop and snap a quick picture.
Just one of the many bundles of sheet rock

Hopefully, they will begin hanging the sheetrock on Monday.
